FAMAS Launches 1st Short Film Festival: Celebrating Filipino Filmmakers
The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) has officially launched the 1st FAMAS Short Film Festival, dedicated solely to short films. Presented by REMS Entertainment, the festival is led by filmmaker Gabby Ramos as the festival director.
With no set theme, the festival allows filmmakers complete creative freedom to explore diverse narratives. Screenings of selected entries will take place at VS Cinema, Victoria Sports Tower, Quezon City, with additional venues to be announced.
Festival Categories
The festival is open to Filipino filmmakers under five categories:
Short Film – Fiction or non-fiction narratives exploring artistic and emotional themes.
Student Film – Entries endorsed by educational institutions.
Regional Film – Stories showcasing local cultures and languages outside Metro Manila.
Advocacy Film – Films addressing social issues and encouraging awareness.
Documentary – Fact-based storytelling tackling real-life events and pressing concerns.

Submission Period: January 26 – March 25, 2025
Submission Deadline: March 25, 2025
Announcement of Official Selections: First week of April 2025
Cinema Screenings: May 3-9, 2025
Awards Night: May 10, 2025

Filmmakers can submit their entries via a digital form and pay a screening fee of:
